And Gordon Smith too 😉 re Lesley absolutely! cat among the pigeons that quote …………….. thing is she made a point of telling a friend of hers to give …. her! …. statement to the MH fb page! That also implies things. As it was an actual statement written by her with details of the things Derek got correct etc there was a definite feel about the way she worded it if you know what i mean 😉 Wish i had copied it ….very strange!

I have a soft spot for Derek love his patter me makes me laugh so much ….re his gifts, well….. we all know he throws a showman in the works 😀 … Karl calls him a comedium eh hehe….. but really he can come up with the goods sometimes……. for me he has something 🙂 So yes he is not as black as he is painted 😉

We had all met up at my old family house, but we were all of teenage years , i have seen photos of vicki and debby but yet not of claire , but claire you were petite with your hair in a ponytail brownish in colour! and we were all going on a ghost hunt with a camera and we were all giggly and chatty eating digestive biscuits and sweets and then one of us came over funny and this lad stepped in to cast whatever it was away wether that was Jason or might of been DaRREN i dont know , but anyway they were succesfull and we carried on but the vigil was at my old family home in derby and then one of you had to go can’t remember who back on the train back home to where ? was blurry but i remember thinking wow what a weird and wonderful dream , i had you all on my mind it seems !
so that’s that but it was a very good dream

The Crystal Children

Doreen Virtue, a leading metaphysical researcher who has been closely involved with the children, has recently released a book entitled The Crystal Children. China’s Super Psychics

The ‘Super Psychics’ of China, have been recognised and nurtured by their Government for the last 25 years. A girl from Shanghai called Xiao Kiong was the first to demonstrate this ability and so in 1981, EHF researchers at Yunnan Wenshan Teachers’ College in Yunna Province selected 5 children with EHF for further training. It was soon found that when blindfolded, these children were able to see with their ears, nose, mouth, tongue, armpits, hands or feet. These tests were not right just some of the time, they were flawless. American new-age magazine Omni got involved when the tests were set up to check there could be no cheating.

From a stack of books one was selected, then opened at random and a page was ripped out and crumpled up in to a small ball. It was placed in the armpit of one of the children – and the child could read every word on the page perfectly. After many more tests Omni magazine became convinced these kids were for real. But Omni were not the only ones present. Zhu Yiyi, editor of Shanghai’s Nature Magazine, a prestigious science journal also witnessed these events.

On another occasion, a thousand people were sitting in an auditorium and were each given a rose-bud. A six-year-old girl came on stage and with a silent wave of her hand; the thousand rosebuds would slowly open to fully blossom into beautiful roses before the eyes of the astonished audience. Another child would take a sealed bottle off a shelf at random and place it at the centre of a table. After a few moments the pills passed through the glass bottle and settled on the table. In many cases, the child would then take another object, such as a coin, put it on the table and it would pass back into the sealed bottle. There are many more stories like these in Chinas Super Psychics, but lets now look into the ‘Children of the Blue-Ray’.

gosh there’s more to people than meets the eye eh? it sound sas though you had a terrible time before your diagnosis, finally someone shedding light on your health and mind , i didn’t know you suffered from them symptoms Vicki , but like you said you can ride them through just takes a bit longer than what people think, yes i think i rattle too lol i take one for anxiety , cod liver oil for my creaky knees and co codomol for my back which are quite heavy duty tabs so yeah i hear you mate!
it’s all about managing the moods and the aches and pains isn’t it , if i feel a bit grumpy now i will try to shut myself off a little away from all and read or just rest in quiet , so i dont cause chaos and frustration on others , still get wound up tho – natures way , thanks for sharing .

@Debby: Interesting to read about your former house and the subsequent experiences of the new owners, whether to tell or not depends on what the experiences were, how frightening they felt for your family and if they specifically ask about a particular type of experience. I probably wouldn’t tell all, but maybe keep tabs on the new owner’s experiences and see how much of it tallies with what you’ve already experienced, look out for patterns and corroborating experiences that will back each other up. 🙂

Yes, which came first? 😉 I would say it was a chicken and egg situation, but we know the egg came first (I will tell, I just don’t want to deviate too far off the point just now,) with this, we are never quite sure. It seems too much of a co-incidence that they’d been friends since 2002 and it only came to light that he studied demons in 2008, six years and it never came up? Not impossible, just unlikely. Begs the question *why* didn’t it come up? Granted, we all have hobbies and don’t always share our findings with others, but if they’re big into the occult, as he is also, you’d think that demons would have come up at some stage during those six years, and that would have been the ideal moment to mention studying them, so why did it go unsaid? Was he afraid they would misunderstand it and given their portrayals of witches as evil, they might think that of him? If they were such good friends, he’d have no need to worry on that front as surely they knew him better than that. Mind you, have you seen the artwork on his FB page? but I digress, it does seem very odd the way it all came to be.
I also had a bit of a wry smile at how, on a rare Fred-free ep of The ‘Great’ Unexplained ‘Debate’ (TGUD), they were discussing reincarnation, and Karl was clearly using it to level thinly-veiled swipes at David Wells and he dismissed reincarnation as “hogwash” and was very scathing about it, I was annoyed at the anti-David comments, but then I thought “hang on a moment, surely you’d want to hear the experiences of your good friend and reincarnated Templar Knight, Fred Batt, Karl? Surely this is the ideal episode to bring him into, I mean, with such a distinguished past-life as, what was it, Baron De Rizzbregg? No? So, when Fred says it, he goes unchallenged, but when others say it, they’re deluded fools? Hypocrites!”
I do get what you mean about Fred, though, without wishing to put too fine a point on it, I wouldn’t be at ease around him, but then, I must have annoyed him a fair bit with my summary of his career on another site (which Simon copied and re-used on MHTNG.) Granted, perhaps I shouldn’t have added “Winner of the Glass Mansion Owner’s Stone Throwing Contest 2010,” (for his contributions to Conwaygate) to his achievements, but that was a joke. Blame too much Have I Got News for You and reading too much Private Eye. 😉

He will not fall, not at Antix, anyway. He and TPTBeattie are as close as family, they have been friends for 10 odd years now and they are tight, anyway, he knows *far* too much for them to go upsetting him. 😉 Others have come and gone, they have been “lauded, applauded and discarded,” but the unholy trinity will always remain; and Simon’s just walked right into the middle of it.
It is interesting, it’s almost like watching PM’s questions, it’s all weasel words and ambiguous, general comments; you often get a paragraph in which someone (and it’s not just him, in fairness) will talk for about 10 lines without actually *saying* anything.

Thank you. 🙂 It seems to have sort-of worked, the cat is very curious about him, but he does tend to get a bit over-excited when he sees her, so he goes charging up to her barking and whining and she runs away, he just wants to be friends, but she’s not used to him yet. It’ll take time, but hopefully they’ll be friends soon. 🙂 The sad thing is, he’s desperate to be friends, his tail is wagging happily and he’s always delighted to see her, it’s just that his lack of tact, or respect for her personal space often scare her off, but then, he’s only a puppy, they’re not known for being calm. XD
Did you hear about the lady who wanted her labrador dog in the room with her when she gave birth? I thought it was sweet that she wanted him there because he was such a calming influence on her, he was there as a therapy dog. 🙂

Time period I’d go back to… Hmm… To visit, I’d go back to the Amarna period of Egyptian history, I’d see the significant times, the end of Amenhotep III’s reign, the co-regency period if it existed, the coronation of Akhenaten and birth of his eldest daughter Meritaten, year five of Akhenaten’s reign, with the move to Akhetaten and birth of his third child Ankhesenpaaten/Ankhesenamun, the time of Tutankhaten/Tutankhamun’s birth in year nine (and see who his mother and father really were, DNA seems to suggest Smenkhare and possibly Sitamun) the year 12 celebrations and visit of the great and formidable dowager queen Tiye, the disappearance of Nefertiti in year 14, the rise of Smenkhare as co-regent in year 15 (were he and Akhenaten really lovers? Not much would surprise me of that wonderful and totally bonkers family) the death of Akhenaten, the co-regency of Ankhkheperure Smenkhare and Meritaten/Ankhetkheperure (note the difference of spelling with the feminine “et” to denote that Ankhetkheperure was in face a female ruler, possibly adapting her name from her husband’s) and their deaths to the reign of Tutankhamun and Ankhesenamun, to his mysterious death and the subsequent murder of the longed for prince Zananzah who would have saved Ankhesenamun from her fate had he not been killed on the Egyptian border, to her marriage to Ay and her death a short time later. Then I’d want to see it hit the fan in the fight between Ay and Horemheb, while Ay struggled in his advancing age to hold his crown while Horemheb wanted to implement martial rule. To Horemheb’s rule alongside Mutnodjmet (Nefertiti’s sister) and the peace that followed. So, just the highlights. XD
In terms of a time I’d like to visit in recent history, I’d go for the 70s and 80s, as I really feel I missed the boat there, being born too late. Yes I know the Tories have dragged us back in time, but it’s without the musical and comedic renaissance of the 80s and killer tunes of the 70s and 80s. I loved the whole glam rock movement and the electronic era, the punk and the art rock, everything from Sparks to Kate Bush to Alice Cooper to Ultravox, Slade, Sweet, Queen, T-Rex, Gary Numan, Blondie and everything electronic and synth-based. Then there was the anti-Thatcher comedy, satire and so many great shows on TV. It was an amazing time culture-wise (not so good job-wise, though.)

In Brighton, there are cemeteries that have kids play parks on them, there are graves dotted here and there but in the centre there are swings, climbing frames, everything a kid would want and benches beside some of the graves for the grown-ups to get some much needed rest while their kids play.
There’s another cemetery across the road from that one, where the stones have been moved to the edges (there’s a few like it) and the centre is clear for people to set up a stage and act Hamlet, or whatever they’re acting that time, and clear for other things too, but some of these are reputedly haunted by people buried there who are *not* pleased that their resting place is not marked exactly where they rest. It’s all very fascinating. 🙂

Hmm… Now… Can’t comment too much about the experiment in China…. Nudge nudge.

It all seems to be smoke and mirrors, gives the illusion of progress at the start of the year, make it look like a return was imminent, when in reality it’s still very far away, it’s not even filmed yet by the sounds of things. That’s not to say they won’t do anything in 2013, it’s just that a series is looking less and less likely the longer January drags on, it started with such certainty, but the more days and weeks go on, the certainty seems to be fading and they seem to be losing momentum. I know they said “coming soon” but they said “coming soon” this time last year. Sorry, I know I sound very negative, but I’m being realistic.

Thoughts with Ryan Buell and his family, I hope that he makes a full recovery.

Yes, I wasn’t expecting to run into Derek B, I hope he’s doing ok, I asked if it was him, but we’ve not seen him in a while, so I hope he’s ok, I liked him. Well, I’ve identified all but one of the people at the Clockhouse, Simon gave me a head start with the posters, well we (on EG chat) needed to be able to have a means of knowing who on earth we meant when we chatted about the night and the people involved, so I found all but one name, I also couldn’t find “Miss Monypenny Bond’’s real name, but “Miss M” will do for a basic means of identification, the other lady we don’t know, so “the brunette lady” will have to do. I could go through a list of who was there: Karl Beattie, Paul Beattie, Liz Wilde (I saw a message she left on Paul’s FB which was quite sweet), Fred Batt, Simon Healy, Susie Higgins, Sharon Stafford, Miss M, Marion Bridger, Sandra Knight (whom I was able to identify based on her reflection in a window when taking a picture of her dogs), the brunette lady and of course Pumpkin (how old is she? Just over a year?)
I don’t know why, but I’ve always focussed on the background detail rather than the main focus, for instance in a pic of someone in their living room, I’m always looking at the DVD rack, as this tells me more than the rest of the picture does about the person/people there. By the way, I do have to compliment Fred’s taste in tea, Twinings know their stuff. 🙂

I jest, but you are right, mediums have served them very well over the years and helped to draw in viewers, question is, was this popularity of the mediums with the crowd the start of the problem for them? I think Simon is Karl’s mouthpiece to the fans, he drip feeds the info to Simon, who passes on what he’s heard to us, I don’t necessarily believe that Simon’s out there to mis-lead anyone about when MH will be back, he can only go on what he’s given. I do, however think that they aren’t being 100% transparent, I think a lot of info gets… lost in transit, what we get is not all that happened, and the way it is given to us is highly polished.

Yes, how dare we comment about MH as if we have some sort of inside information? 😉 I wouldn’t have minded, but we never claimed to have inside info. Maybe he’s talking about the fake pages… or maybe, we’re getting a bit too close and that’s why he’s felt the need to take a swipe? 😉
Who knows, maybe it will come back this year after all, I hope the fans get the series they love back for their sake, but we do need to be aware of the ex-MHers that we all know and that most of us love not being there and how that is going to affect the series and the way we view it. Series 13 and 14 were watchable for me as Ciaran and Chris Conway were there, but after they went, there wasn’t anyone that I could say “I need to watch them” I like Phil, but he didn’t get much air time on CS and it doesn’t look like he’ll be back for MHTNG, I also bear no ill feeling towards Cath, but I wouldn’t watch future MH eps for her. It was the same with Torchwood, after Ianto and Tosh went, there was nobody I liked enough to watch S4 for. I like Jack, Rhys and Andy, but them alone was not enough as the feeling wasn’t strong enough. I really did like Jack, but they did so much to undermine his character by the end of S3 that I didn’t care about what they wrote for him in the future, they’d completely raped his character and I’ve *never* liked Gwen, so why would I watch any more of that? Again, I know it’s not exactly the same thing, but the principal is the same, if all the people you watched a show for are gone, why watch the show? Then again, they have promised some newbies (Simon) so maybe they might be interesting to watch, to see how they interact with the team and how they develop over the series. I think the first few eps will have a lot of viewers curious to see what they would have done with the series, it’d just be a question of how the fans take to those eps that would determine whether they keep watching or not.

I hope Derek’s book does come out, and I hope it has a glorious forward by Richard Felix with anything he wishes to add to it. Ciaran made reference to writing a book, but I’m not sure if it was in jest, or it’s on hold due to his busy schedule or if he’s adding bits when he has time, but I’d love to read that if it comes out too.

I loved the way David and Gordon worked together, they had a real chemistry onscreen and I think they are still on good terms now. Certainly seems that way from the events they’ve been on together. 🙂 Matthew Smith also worked with Gordon Smith while going for the Million Dollar Psychic experiment in which Matthew tried to learn from Gordon how to become psychic in order to win Randi’s Prize (one million dollars to anyone who can pass his controversial test to prove they are psychic.) It’s gone a bit quiet on that front, so I’m assuming, as he’s now taken up a position in the same dept as Ciaran at Bucks New Uni that he’s abandoned the attempt. It was interesting, however, that he said Gordon was the one medium he’d met who’s ability he had not been able to explain away, that’s not to say he didn’t like some of the other mediums, though, as I think he still gets on well with David. Ciaran was not all that impressed with Gordon until after he left MH and he saw him outside of that according to Billy Roberts in the book he co-wrote with Ciaran (The Great Paranormal Clash.) Tell you what, the more I learn about who likes/dislikes who on MH and the history between all present and former MH people and their family and friends, the more I feel the need to draw a bl**dy diagram. XD

You’re right, barbaric doesn’t cover it. 🙁 They did a sort of similar thing in the medieval period when if a child was born deformed, they would think the child was either a demon, or demon spawn and that child would suffer horribly as a result for that ignorance.

Depends on how they handled it, Ciaran’s still on good enough terms with most of the ex-MH mediums, he seemed to show them respect all the time they were on screen together, whereas Karl never kept his contempt for mediums a great secret, except for the early days where he’d hold Derek and intone “Derek, come forward” to him when he was supposedly possessed and trying to come back. That was the early days, though.

I hear that for a number of years Aleister Crowley’s former home had been a B&B, fascinating thought, as so many people would have come to it over the years with varying reasons for going there. A place with so much suggestion, the mention of Crowley is enough to plant the seed there, so that would give the place a feel on its own. I think he loved the notoriety and took great pleasure in all the attention that brought.

A man recorded a triangle of three red lights in the sky in Brighton last spring, I remembered seeing them out my window, but thinking nothing of them, it made the local paper and YouTube, but the evening I read it, I looked back out the sky and the triangle was still there, so I made note of its position and to look back in the morning for a natural source… That morning, I looked out the window and saw three cranes out there and the highest points of these corresponded to the positions of the red lights. Bummer for that guy, and the local rag looked a tiny bit stupid.
It’s not nice to dismiss it out of hand and laugh the person who has had the experience out the room, but a bit of scepticism is good.

@ Niki…..OMG, we are so alike, Bad Bad Bad things happened to my family and me about 7 years ago and I ( Being mum) found that it all ended up on my shoulders…. unfortunately, my shoulders got soo weighed down that I ended up with post traumatic stress syndrome and post natal depression, talk about a dark place…I know exactly what you mean, it was so scary and I feared for my sanity. I also am on tablets for anxiety and sleeping tabs every night ( cos the monsters keep on coming at bedtime ). I just hope our lovely Claire is not finding things too bad and that she has a good network of family and friends beside her as i found that helped me more than anything.

I meant what i said about finding more about Buddhism, it does seem to call to me !!!!

Poor littlte Nikki, bless her, hope she gets on okk, kids eh? such a worry, doesn’t matter if they are 3 or 23, you still panic everytime they are unwell or hurt….please give her my love and a hug from aunty deb…… and one to you too for being a brave mummy !!!!

I’ll be open now and tell you that 5-6 years ago i was in quite a dark place ,suffering from depression with a back injury from work , i was quite an outgoing person and this had reduce me to a nervous moody wreck , my family were there for me and very patient , now i still have my moments and have anxiety which i take tablets for but i’m nowhere near how i was years ago .
Coming on here cheers me up no end and i look forward to the banter.
It’s important to have family and friends around you .

@Claire Hellooo ,well i consider you bunch of spooky fanaticals as chums as well , recently i’ve been suffering with a bit of fatigue and although i’ve carried on doing day to day chores and the like , i’ve been in that “ug cant be bothered mood ie January bluessssss ” lol
i’m ok per se really ,i think my kids are going thru it as my son has had a heavy week of science gcse’s and lil nik seems to be somewhere else as her teacher said to me on friday , she wasn’t well on Wed , so i dont know what it is really, i think we need some MH news to get our teeth stuck into and have lots to talk about.

reading a good book “Betrayal in the tudor court” by Darcey Bonnette , worth a read , quite heavily religous context at times but it was when the reformation started which is referred to as “The new learning” about a girl who is of nobility but orphanned at the age of 8 and comes to live with another family of nobility , the lives of all of them ,and around the time of Queen Anne Boleyn’s marriage to Henry and ref to them in book of course , it’s a good read and i’m enjoying it at the mo.

Interesting your post about Psychic research in china on children , i’m not at all surprised that they have been doing this as they are so far ahead with research than most , i believe children arre of that ability and just tune in to it naturally as they have pure minds ! they are not cynical beings like us adults we have to hone in more as itwere to our abilities!

I also do dream a LOT!!! nine out of ten times i remember all my dreams which can range to the sublime to the downright bizzare!!! and i love dreams to to the point where i’m anaylising them the next day .
i’ve heard of shaminism , but havent read in depth so maybe i will start , i’ve told you all that my dad and wife go to buddhist sessions and they get an awful lot out of it,it’s very spiritual but like what my pa said to me last sun on the blower that unlike most religions/faiths this has moved with the times of now! , it’s very much think of our ,instead of Me , me ,me , finding ways to be calm in a stressfull society, that boy chucks it at you in the thousands , i reckon i could learn more by it and get out of it what my dad has as i’m quite similar in character to him . i get a little het up sometimes in certain situations , it’s learning how to take a bad negative situation and turning it into something positive , which aint easy !
Snow that came yesterday is melting fast , it’s been quite a nice day actually here in Lincoln land, but still bitter with a twist of lemon!!!!!

Really interesting link on Psychics Claire, there is so much evidence that science just cannot explain away ( as they so love to do ) there really is something going on in our brains that we just haven’t explored enough yet.

We should take a leaf out of our distant ancestors who believed in ALL things psychic and supernatural. As you know, I love the Iron Age peiod of Britain, i have read many books on the subject both for my degree and personal interest. There is a trilogy of books about Boudicca, who as you know was an Iron Age warrior leader from Norfolk, the Iceni tribe. The books were written by a female author called Manda Scott and in the books she describes the way the people of tribes lived. A big part of their lives were spent “Dreaming” which is the only way to describe their psychic and instinct capabilities, now this book is obviously written half fact half fiction, but so involved and interested in “Dreaming” as Manda was, she has set up classes in “Dreaming” that we can all learn, i guess it is the modern equivilent of the way the iron Age people did it.
