Re: Gosthunting With…: The nearest we’ve had to one is that clip on Olly Murs’s show where he went ghost hunting with friends just over a month ago (was this from an episode yet to be aired, or was it just for that show?) The last GHW… was on 14th September, so 9 months ago. That’s a very long time to be waiting for a new one (mind you, Sherlock and Doctor Who fans have been known to wait longer for their fix.)
No news on Malum, I think it must be on hold for the time being (possibly diverting their attention to getting a channel for MH?)
If you listen to some fans/fansites, it would sound like they were beating the channels off with sticks they’ve seen so many, but it seems to me more likely that they’re having immense trouble getting anyone to take it on. Nearly 10 months since they got the rights back and only 1 DVD in all that time, no whisper of when the next series will be on, or any details of the promised Hallowe’en live, but there are stories about the channels they’ve approached (whatever happened to the man from Channel 5 who occasionally commented on here? I liked him, he seemed nice.) Simon Healy must be either an eternal optimist or one hell of a spin-doctor, but even he is beginning to lose some of that, his site is not updated nearly as often as it was and the photos and posters put up there every so often are nice, some of them very much so, but they are at best filler at worst smokescreen for the lack of news. I’m sure he’s a lovely man, apart from censoring some of the comments on the site, but he can’t keep the support afloat with just the scraps we are fed, occasionally they will disclose something, but it’s done in drips to make it look like more is happening than there actually is (e.g. the Lionsgate deal being discussed after the DVD was released through Lionsgate.)

I saw those on MH Info FB, the lady who runs it had got them from Fred Batt’s FB and I ‘m sure I saw him driving the car that pulled up to the Coalhouse fort in the episode (can’t tell because the clip is fast on YouTube, or did I slow the clip down on TV?) So I’m guessing pull up, do the photos then get on with the ghost hunt (or whatever.) The thing that struck me during the clip was that I knew I’d seen the car before, then the lightbulb pinged on and after a bit of clicking about I found a clip of it being used in Living With Yvette and Karl, so it would seem to be Fred’s car.
Nothing escapes my eagle eyes. 😉
Well, I suppose he’s their best mate, so he’s around them a lot, but you’re right, why there? When I saw the pics, I thought that he’d be doing something on the ghost hunt, perhaps something to do with demons, but no, so why was he there? Answers on a postcard. My friend came up with a story about it in the vein of A Christmas Carol. I don’t know why, as it was, what, August? but it was funny. XD

If they are planning to release everything at once, they’ll have a job keeping everyone interested that long, most of the bookmarked post on MHTNG, that’s been up since 3rd June has only 55 likes. If they’re not careful, people will not even be looking when they do make an announcement, they’ll hear it on the grapevine, but it’s not the same.
I take your point, it’s not a state secret. :-/

I saw the trailer for The Pact, tbh, I’m a bit dubious about the film, it looks like it could so easily be bad, but I may be wrong, it might be good, but horror films are notoriously hit and miss (if you’ve gone into any supermarket recently, there seem to be about 5 horror films that are straight to DVD at least in their entertainment section), so it’s not looking promising for it. I’ll be waiting ‘till it’s on Sky, I think.

If Karl ordered them to take the poster down because it was misleading, then how has the stuff on MHTNG got off? It’s still stating that MH is back in 2012. Weird. :-/
How did they get the idea that it was back in 2012 in the first place? Did Karl tell them that for sure, or was he just hoping it would be?
Also, what’s this big exciting news that Fred promised the fans (through Simon Healy’s page) that they’d be getting soon? :-/

Ah yes, Ghostbusters 3, will he, won’t he? I hear he said once that he would be in it… If he was killed in scene 1. He seems to have mellowed on the idea now, so that’s good. I hope he does decide to be in it. I like Bill Murray. Failing that, get Ciaran, he’d love the chance to be in it (started a petition to get him a cameo in it, but it’s not taken off, sadly.)

Yes, he was a sessions singer (according to an interview he did with Manchester Haunted.) I compiled a list of his roles on MH Online LiveJournal, funnily enough, I didn’t start the quotation marks thing, somebody on Wikipedia did when they called him a ‘historian’ and I though it was funny, so I continued it, then Simon Healy saw it and put it up on MHTNG, then I added to mine to make it more complete and then I see that Fred Batt had gone onto his FB page and put his role on MH in CAPITALS. I think I made him mad…

Bad idea. The mediums were very popular with the mob (like me) and although taking them away takes away any accusations of bullying the mediums, it still does not mean that people will take them seriously as paranormal investigators, too much has gone on for that and how can you decry mediums and have a demonologist on board? Are they expecting people to believe that mediums don’t exist but demons do? Which is the greater leap of faith? Maybe that’s why they slightly changed Fred Batt’s role, to make him a historian so that people don’t question the legitimacy of his role on the show?

It did. He leaked that a while ago and I still think it too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence that he says in 2010, just before they were given their marching orders, that he does not think that they should have mediums and now the show’s coming back they don’t have them. Yvette and Karl listen to their mate, though and he wouldn’t be their mate if they didn’t agree on a lot of things, so there’s that, I suppose.

As for The Apprentice, Jade was the best candidate, I think, but her business idea was shoddy. Not good at all. I liked Nick Holzherr on a few of the tasks, apart from when he ganged up on Jade with that bloke who looked a bit like a cross between Chris Burton and one of my former teachers. O.o

It was, but it’s all done now, had quite a nice, not quite what you’d call relaxing, but still enjoyable week, met a few friends, they’ve either just finished Uni exams or are doing their final A Level exams, so they’re happy it’ll be over soon and I’m wishing them the best with their results in August. Myself, I’m busy with a lot of voluntary work, with the museum and history centre, Preston Manor (walking in the footsteps of David Wells and Ciaran O’Keeffe, oh yeah!)

Close knit? Don’t know what gave you that idea. 😛 We don’t hate each other, but Dad’s side of the family are not friends (they still see each other because they are still family and there’s a whole web there that can’t really be broken) I think the only people on Dad’s side we’re close to are his uncle, aunt and cousins (one of them, the other’s in America.) We can’t cut off his sister without slightly annoying him. Not as bad as Mum’s side, though, they’ve been at war for the past 10 years and we’re only in touch with her sister, whom we see every Christmas, Easter and birthday (we’d love to see my cousin, her son, and his family, but his wife doesn’t seem to like us, so…)

I have a friend who was recently at the Vaults to do a ghost hunt and he had some very interesting things to say. For instance, he was told that the cursed stones are moved around the vaults every so often (maybe the supposed curse is in the stones themselves and in their formation of the circle? Playing Devil’s advocate here.)
I’m working through the Lives on DVD and I’m up to the first one in 2003 so far. XD
Maybe I’ll have to do the Film Friday thing again. Great fun, that. 🙂

The Jubilee concert was very good in parts, some of the singing was a bit off (here’s looking at you, Cheryl) but I did enjoy the concert; bit miffed that they cut the fireworks short, though, they were brilliant.

This debate was before the DNA evidence came to light and so I’m still convinced of my main argument, but I’ve just re evaluated some of the finer points about the characters and narrowed down the list of suspects for the parents of some of the central characters.

She had her injection today, so she’ll be ready for when we go away, she loves the kennels for the same reason she loves the vets, all those dogs to bark at.

Digger sounded like a lovely dog and a loyal companion. They are much missed when they go, but you will always cherish the memories you have of her and the time you were together. I found that with Cleo, I miss her, but so many of my happy childhood memories have her in them. 🙂

I’m glad you’re ok, bloomin’ PC problems. The other day, mine told me it was going to install 6 updates and needed to restart; it restarted and a note came up saying that the Flash player was out of date. What the hell was it installing if a new flash player was not one of them? :-/

syndrome last night i went to the chippy when i got home my neighbour who died few weeks back i thought i saw her for a split second in her bedroom window ????and yes that smell of smoke again its like a very old pub used to smell in the old days before they banned smoking in them it only last for seconds but very pungent i asked my wife if she could smell it but says not really she said she could smell aor freshener ???
and another thing 4 years ago my dog dred digger her name was a lovely dog she used to favour sitting on my right side when she got the chance i did not think anything of it till the other day while i was watching a program that they said animals mainly dogs could sence pain and they could smell cancer in people well 7 years ago i was diognosed with bowl disease and cronic pain on my right side now coincidence was my lovely dog who i had for 14 years trying to tell me something earlier
she loved me i loved her when ever i sat on floor changing dvd she would not hesitate to sit only on my right side god i am filling up
the emotion she was my best friend sorry i have to go i am crying here what a big softy 49 years of age why do animals have to die so early in life sorry speak later xxx

I think it was toned down, as we know that Dr. Ciaran O’Keeffe is far from an idiot.

I like Ciaran too, David, Ciaran, Richard and Chris Conway are my favourites. 😀

I think Ciaran might have had some sympathy with his position, having been misquoted himself in the media in the past, so there was that, but he also doesn’t like Degsy, so there’s that too. It was good of him to put both sides up, it shows a balanced approach and that even though he doesn’t like Degsy, he is still willing to look at both sides; and I admire that. 🙂

I hope you find your cards, I keep mine in my bedside table in a nice purple bag with purple, gold and green embroidery across the top and bottom and gold drawstring that I got, along with quite a lot of incense, from aforementioned lovely witch in Lewe. As for a reading cloth, well, my old favourite purple top had seen better days and is slowly falling apart, so I might turn that into a reading cloth (if our energy lingers on things, then that should be soaked in mine.) Congratulations to your friend with her adorable little black ball of fluff with the white chin and to you for becoming Aunty Nikki! 😀 When I got Artie in late November 2008 as a kitten, I was over the moon and I’d get the first bus I could back home from college in the dark to see her and play with her, she was the most small, playful and cute thing that I’d ever seen and I was delighted. Well, we know that the Younger Lady is Tut’s biological mother, but we’re still not 100% on who she actually is. Well, funny you should say that, as I did have a clash with the outspoken Egyptologist David Rohl at a Sussex Egyptology Society meeting a few years back. We got chatting about Smenkhare and who he/she was and it got a bit heated discussion, never impolite, only a good natured, but slightly heated debate (in the true sense of the word) as indeed, a good debate should be, both sides should hold their own and relish the tussle, then he calls up three men, who nodded and agreed with him to the point of being obsequious and he then says “there you have it, four to one” and I responded with “you’ve never exactly cared about odds in the past, though, have you?” If he’s never been afraid to swim against the tide and had never cared about numbers until it suited him to do so, then I certainly wasn’t about to let him get away with it! Mind you, stubborn little gobsh*te, probably reminded him of a younger version of him!
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I’d never have been asked onto The ‘Great’ Unexplained ‘Debate’. XD

Sorry for the length of time between posts again, there’s been so much going on. Started my new medication, Prozac for severe PMS, on Monday last, which I have to take for one week a month, and so far it’s been very effective given that the past few weeks have been incredibly packed and it’s going with my Risperidone very effectively and without problems, thank God! I had an important meeting on Thursday last, which I was terrified about, but it wasn’t bad once I got there, it went ok, even if not much could be done to help me, they still did something, so that’s what’s important. 🙂 Friday last meeting a friend, then rushing around like a headless chicken to get the house clean from top to bottom with Mum before we went to pick my aunt up at the station, lots of dusting, hoovering and bed changing to do in my room, then there was the mopping, taking out of recycling and rounding up of stray glasses/mugs to do elsewhere and that was just what I was doing! Then we had a weekend filled with a trip to Lewes (where we met a lovely witch, that came as a pleasant surprise), the local pub, film and TV, a food festival, a BBQ, a trip to Brighton centre, and then she went, all the while Monday-Friday this week we also had a builder at work in the house doing various bits and pieces and I had work on Wednesday and Thursday and meeting the same friend yesterday and finally got around to unwinding with Bram Stoker’s Dracula that afternoon, before Brighton Centre and food shopping Saturday. I don’t know how I’m still awake!
Oh and happy Diamond Jubilee to the Queen. 🙂

They are, and I’ve always been interested in ancient talismans and symbols such as the Ankh, the Djed and the Tet/Tyet (ok, they were all Egyptian examples, I’m interested in others too, just they were the first to spring to mind for some reason!) 😛
Personally, I think the powers come from the mind and a combination of beliefs around the object and associated experiences with the object create the effect (if that makes sense), but that’s just me being the miserable old sceptic. 😛 I can’t criticise too much, though, as I have a rather beautiful silvery pentacle with an amethyst in the centre around my neck at this moment in time. 😉

It is a great series, I’m very much enjoying it, haven’t got around to watching the one on ghost hunting, but it’s on my planner and I am very much looking forward to it, especially considering that I’ve also Sky+ed Derren Brown’s Seance special and I’d like to compare them both and compare MH with them too. 😀

As to Jane Goldman’s wardrobe, she’s got some nice stuff, but she is quite a… shapely woman, so I can see how that might be a controversial subject.

It surprised me, actually, it was spot on and it made a reference to things from feeling negatively about a work situation to referencing a friend who has become very important to me over time and has become like a third parent and it referenced his support; and it was very specific to him as well when I asked for more info, even though I had a feeling it was referring to him, so that did make me sit back a bit and think “Wow. That’s really quite amazing.” 🙂

If they didn’t then sorry, entirely my bad, but that was the impression I got from it), but Karl edits the shows, so he must have seen that before it went to TV? So he must have known how it would seem to the viewers at home?

I’m sure there was a time where they meant it, and I hope that she did mean it then, but I have my doubts given what happened. Mind you, she did have a go at Karl and Stu for not using psychic protection during the live in Transylvania, back in February 2007.

I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt (and I’m far more likely to give David Wells, Ciaran O’Keeffe and Richard Felix the benefit of the doubt than Karl, Stu and Derek) and I really do want to believe, but even if the explanation is a psychosomatic illness, to have that domino effect would still be very interesting.
Oh I really hope so, they have every right to, seeing as they apparently own the back catalogue, so they can screen them whenever they like (if MH isn’t back this Hallowe’en, then they could do a big re-screen of them all this October, that’d be fun.) 😀

I think they do watch it, they must see the edited show before it screens, just to make sure it’s ok, but I suppose it’s because the fans watch them so often, they see more things every time and there are a lot of niggling issues with the series, from the crew/their actions to what could be done better, to “Yeah, what did come of that? Was it just a cobweb, or is there still no explanation for it?” (Answer: Yes, it was a cobweb, as Steve Parsons said in an article he wrote for Silent Voices.)

That’s true, without the mediums, they’ve lost something unique and without the parapsychologist, then there’s nobody there to give the impression of validity to their investigations. I hope that they do see sense and bring them back, but I’m not holding too much hope, they’ve made clear their distain for mediums, fans and now they’ve got rid of the parapsychologists too.
