Discover Dursley in 2026 & Shop Local Campaign
To celebrate 100 years of the Chantry Centre and the Lister D engine, the Town Council launched the “26 Ways to Discover Dursley in 2026” campaign. A free guide and map were distributed with the Winter newsletter and are available from the Visitor Information Centre at Dursley Library.
The campaign encourages residents and visitors to explore local attractions while supporting independent businesses. From 1 March 2026, shoppers can enter the Shop Local Prize Draw for a chance to win up to £200 in cash and other prizes. Councillor Andy Rowe described Dursley as “a great town” and encouraged everyone to enjoy the local high street.
2026/27 Budget & Community Investments
Dursley Town Council approved its 2026/27 budget on 20 January 2026, with an annual increase of £33.50 for an average Band D household, equivalent to less than 65p per week. The annual Town Council charge is now £256.81.
Key investments include:
- New public toilets at the War Memorial Recreation Ground
- Pavilion garage extension
- Continued support for Vibe Youth Centre
- Grants for local organisations
- Maintenance of Kingshill Cemetery, allotments, parks, play areas, and Long Street Car Park
Mayor Councillor Alex Stennett explained that previous budgets relied on reserves to keep increases below inflation, making the 2026 adjustment necessary.
